For most people Tor Browser is the whole job. The Tor connection is built in, so an onion address just opens.

Download it only from torproject.org, and check the signature the first time.
Click the shield and set it to Safest. That switches off scripts and closes a lot of doors.
Paste a verified address. Do not type it. Match the login address to your bar.
